Seventh-Day Adventist
Church is fastest growing of 19th century. more...(Organized 1863)
reports a total of baptized living members as 14,256,078. Adventists also report a statistic of adherents and attendance at Sabbath School and Sabbath worship services of at least 25,000,000 plus around
the world each Saturday.
Seventh-day Adventists global growth rate from 2003 to 2004 was 3.96%. Adventists have a
worldwide organization represented in more than 200 countries, with schools, colleges, hospitals,
printing presses, and TV programs that cover the whole globe. The majority of members (87%) live
outside North America.
History repeats itself, thank God!
The Newark Seventh-day Adventist Church had its beginnings during a two-week camp meeting in August of 1877 that was held at the Licking County Fairgrounds, currently known as Moundbuilder's Park. The first church building (located on North Sixth Street between West Main and Church Streets) was completed and dedicated December 29, 1878, at a cost off $1,500.00.
In 1951, a church building located on the corner of South fifth and Poplar Avenue was bought and occupied. A mortgage-burning ceremony and a dedication service were held on May 20th and 21st
of 1955 to celebrate the newly debt-free status of the Church. It was in this structure that the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the church was celebrated December 1st and 2nd, 1978.
Pastor Sidney Young and Chairman of the Building Committee John Loveridge had engaged the hard work of many of the dedicated members that year, however, and a new site was located and construction begun on the present church at 701 Linnville
Rd, Heath, Ohio 43056 USA
Christian education has had its place in the Newark Seventh-day Adventist church from the beginning, and the church has produced a missionary, several teachers, nurses, and dedicated tradesmen, not to mention faithful mothers and fathers, from the children of members and non-members alike. Therefore, the education wing of the new church was constructed first, housing Sabbath School Division classrooms, a library, restrooms, day-school classrooms for the elementary school, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large fellowship hall in which services were held until the Sanctuary was built. This phase was finished in the spring of 1979, and the sanctuary was completed in 1981.
Joy abounded during the weekend of May 13th and 14th, 1988, when another mortgage-burning ceremony and Church dedication was held. As before, former pastors joined in the celebration.
This year (2007), renovation is taking place that actually began in December of 2006. We anticipate another ceremony in a few months, this time a re-dedication, in celebration of our feeling of expectation . . . God must have some big plans for His “light on the hilltop”.
Nut-shell Theology: The Bible, which received the stamp of approval of Jesus Christ himself and his apostles, is the final authority for the lives of those who call themselves Christians (followers of Christ). All humans (except Jesus) are sinners saved by grace through faith, and this is demonstrated in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. True faith is life-changing and results in a re-birth and a love relationship with the Lord that leads to a new life lived for God in gratitude for the greatest gift we will ever receive. God is God of all; Christ is savior of all; and the gift of salvation is free to all who know they are unworthy but want to be members of God’s family anyway.

Challenging the Myth

Individualization
In most small schools, there is a lower teacher-pupil ratio. This allows for more careful assessment of the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of each student. The teacher is better able to individualize the instruction to fit the student's needs and learning style.
Flexibility
The small school setting largely escapes the fixed schedules, pull-out-programs, red tape, and administrative trivialities of larger schools. This enables new teaching strategies to be implemented with a minimum of delay. Field trips, projects, and use of equipment can fit into the actual flow of the classroom learning experience without having to adjust to the plans of several other classrooms.
Curriculum
The North American Division Office of Education has developed quality curriculum materials for multi-grade classrooms. integration of learning levels and subjects allows the students to apply skills across the curriculum in real-life situations.
Social Skills
Several studies have found that multi-grade classrooms improve personal and social development. Students learn to work with a wide age span. Cooperative learning and peer tutoring helps shape social skills. Independent work habits, as well as a greater feeling of responsibility and self-esteem, are developed.
Family Atmosphere
A sense of community quickly develops. There is more interaction among the smaller groups. The mix of age and abilities is more like a family than is found in larger classrooms of same-age children.
Parental Involvement
A major factor for student success in school is for the parents to be actively involved in their child's education. The small school setting provides many opportunities for involvement from helping with projects, field trips, and hot lunches, to serving on the local school board.
Academic Achievement
Studies have shown that students from multi-grade schools do as well or better on standardized tests than students in single grade classrooms. However, more small school students go on to college.
Leadership
Students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills from an early age. Every student is called upon to lead out in some aspect of the school program - a true training ground for the future.
Character Building
Character building is the center piece of Adventist Christian education. The family atmosphere of the small school provides an environment that supports and extends this important work begun in the home.
Spiritual Growth
Seventh-day Adventist Christian education focuses on preparing students for eternity. The smaller setting allows time to be spent in sharing and building a personal relationship with Christ. Smaller groups and flexible scheduling make outreach in service to the community easier to accomplish.
Our children are the future. Salvation is our goal.
Community Services of Seventh-day Adventists
Since 1956
38-40 S First Street, Newark, Ohio
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has, from the late 1800’s been involved in medical ministries and missionary ministries, as well as embracing the privilege of providing local and world-wide relief for poor and underprivileged children of God (all humans are God’s children). The Newark Church had a group of woman called The Dorcas Society (See Acts 9:36-42) and when it became possible, opened the Community Services Center, which moved to its present location from 73 North 6th Street. The “new old” building was renovated at the time and has served the poor as a the Center became associated with the Food Pantry of Licking County beside giving away clothing and linens and some housewares. In 2003, The Carrousel Thrift Shop was opened, and all proceeds from sales go to support the Community Services Center. The excellent reputation of the Center, with the Welfare and Service organizations in the area, is a direct result of the Christian concern exhibited by the volunteers for their clients.
The Community Services Center of Seventh-day Adventists is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The Carrousel Thrift Shop is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11:45 a.m.

(Organized 1863)
reports a total of baptized living
members as 14,256,078. Adventists also report a statistic of adherents and attendance at Sabbath
School and Sabbath worship services of at least 25,000,000 plus around the world each Saturday.
At the 2005 Annual Council, world divisions reported baptisms that surpassed one million.
The 1,094,138 baptisms during the past four quarters, July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005, meant that
on the average, everyday within that period 2,996 believers accepted the everlasting gospel and
joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The resulting total of 14,256,078 baptized membersmeans that there are currently 454 people globally for every baptized
Seventh-day Adventist. The year-end ratio a decade ago was 647 to one. The optimistic projection
of Adventist leadership is that, if current projections are valid, a decade from now there will be
a ratio of 295 general population for every Seventh-day Adventist.
Seventh-Day Adventists are Bible-believing Christians who base our faith, hope and a future in Jesus Christ. We believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and the way we live, eat, think, treat each other, and care for the world around around us - is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.
Each Saturday, Adventists enjoy a 24-hour Sabbath rest from work and school to enjoy family and fellow believers in worship, fellowship, prayer, and communion with God.

Chapter 15 Ordination, Page 89
DON'T LET LIFE PASS YOU BY
TOO SOON WE'RE OLD TOO LATE WE'RE SMART
READ THIS VERY SLOWLY... IT'S PRETTY PROFOUND.
Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they
haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it
was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.
I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed
up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From
then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.
How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't
suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does
the word "refrigeration" mean nothing to you?
How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you
watched 'Jeopardy' on television?
I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, "How about going to
lunch in a half hour?" She would gas up and stammer, "I can't. I have
clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I
had a late breakfast. It looks like rain." And my personal favorite:
"It's Monday." She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.
Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our
headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves
when all the conditions are perfect!
We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve toilet-trained.
We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet We'll go on a
second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.
Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and
the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken,
and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to," "I
plan on," and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit."
When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure
and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her
enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes,
and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Rollerblades and
skip an elevator for a bungee cord.
My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's
just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula
and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and
bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I
would have died happy.
Now...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to.....not
something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had
only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you
say? And why are you waiting?
Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you.
Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask "How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores
running through your head? Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow."
And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good
friendship die? Just call to say "Hi"?
When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened
gift....Thrown away.... Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the
music before the song is over.
It's National Friendship and FAMILY WEEK Show your friends how much you
care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND. To those I have sent this to...
I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do.
"Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here,
we might as well dance!"
