Matthew 24:10-14 Amplified Bible

10And then many will be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert [Him Whom they ought to trust and obey] and will stumble and fall away and betray one another and pursue one another with hatred.

11And many false prophets will rise up and deceive and lead many into error.

12And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity,

13But he who endures to the end will be saved.

14And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.

Jesus' feet will not touch the ground or the earth. He will gather his saints in the air and return to heaven for 1,000 years.

Jesus and the saints will return to earth after the 1,000 years.

Matthew 24:21-31 The Message Bible

21-22"This is going to be trouble on a scale beyond what the world has ever seen, or will see again. If these days of trouble were left to run their course, nobody would make it. But on account of God's chosen people, the trouble will be cut short.

The Arrival of the Son of Man

23-25"If anyone tries to flag you down, calling out, 'Here's the Messiah!' or points, 'There he is!' don't fall for it. Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better. But I've given you fair warning.

26-28"So if they say, 'Run to the country and see him arrive!' or, 'Quick, get downtown, see him come!' don't give them the time of day. The Arrival of the Son of Man isn't something you go to see. He comes like swift lightning to you! Whenever you see crowds gathering, think of carrion vultures circling, moving in, hovering over a rotting carcass. You can be quite sure that it's not the living Son of Man pulling in those crowds.

29"Following those hard times,

   Sun will fade out,
      moon cloud over,
   Stars fall out of the sky,
      cosmic powers tremble.

30-31"Then, the Arrival of the Son of Man! It will fill the skies—no one will miss it. Unready people all over the world, outsiders to the splendor and power, will raise a huge lament as they watch the Son of Man blazing out of heaven. At that same moment, he'll dispatch his angels with a trumpet-blast summons, pulling in God's chosen from the four winds, from pole to pole.

Everything New

1I saw Heaven and earth new-created. Gone the first Heaven, gone the first earth, gone the sea. 2I saw Holy Jerusalem, new-created, descending resplendent out of Heaven, as ready for God as a bride for her husband. 3-5I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: "Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They're his people, he's their God. He'll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone." The Enthroned continued, "Look! I'm making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate."

6-8Then he said, "It's happened. I'm A to Z. I'm the Beginning, I'm the Conclusion. From Water-of-Life Well I give freely to the thirsty. Conquerors inherit all this. I'll be God to them, they'll be sons and daughters to me. But for the rest—the feckless and faithless, degenerates and murderers, sex peddlers and sorcerers, idolaters and all liars—for them it's Lake Fire and Brimstone. Second death!"

The City of Light

9-12One of the Seven Angels who had carried the bowls filled with the seven final disasters spoke to me: "Come here. I'll show you the Bride, the Wife of the Lamb." He took me away in the Spirit to an enormous, high mountain and showed me Holy Jerusalem descending out of Heaven from God, resplendent in the bright glory of God.

12-14The City shimmered like a precious gem, light-filled, pulsing light. She had a wall majestic and high with twelve gates. At each gate stood an Angel, and on the gates were inscribed the names of the Twelve Tribes of the sons of Israel: three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, three gates on the west. The wall was set on twelve foundations, the names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb inscribed on them.

15-21The Angel speaking with me had a gold measuring stick to measure the City, its gates, and its wall. The City was laid out in a perfect square. He measured the City with the measuring stick: twelve thousand stadia, its length, width, and height all equal. Using the standard measure, the Angel measured the thickness of its wall: 144 cubits. The wall was jasper, the color of Glory, and the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. The foundations of the City walls were garnished with every precious gem imaginable: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate a single pearl.

21-27The main street of the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. But there was no sign of a Temple, for the Lord God—the Sovereign-Strong—and the Lamb are the Temple. The City doesn't need sun or moon for light. God's Glory is its light, the Lamb its lamp! The nations will walk in its light and earth's kings bring in their splendor. Its gates will never be shut by day, and there won't be any night. They'll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City. Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life will get in.

What does it mean, "God's chosen people?" Which day - Saturday or Sunday is Jesus' Day of Worship?

Hi, I'm a Christian but I don't believe in the Rapture or the Secret Rapture or the Rapture of the church. I'm curious as to how or why other Christian denominations believe this. How did this come about and what Bible verses are they basing this belief on?

Answer: The idea of the Secret Rapture arose as a result of the teachings of
J.N. Darby, who became a member of the Brethren movement, which had its
origins in Dublin in 1825.This movement was established by a group of
earnest men who were dissatisfied with the spiritual condition of the
Protestant church in Ireland at that time. Darby entered the church in 1827.
It was he who originated the idea of Secret Rapture, based on the words of
Jesus in Matthew 24:40, 41. Among the groups formed in Ireland and England,
the group in Plymouth became prominent, and it was from them that the name
Plymouth Brethren arose.

Though originating with the Brethren, this belief is not limited to them.
Others, such as the Baptists, also hold to this view. Recent interest in the
doctrine has been stirred up by the publication of certain end time novels
in the USA, and a film based on one of them, entitled, if I remember
correctly, Left Behind, in which airline pilots are raptured and planes
crash to the ground pilotless; bus drivers disappear with similar disastrous
results, etc. etc.

This erroneous teaching is based on the text mentioned above, Speaking of
the Second Advent, Jesus said, "Two men will be in the field; one will be
taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one
will be taken and the other left." Matthew 24:40,41.* This verse was linked
with 1 Thess. 4:16.17, though the connection was wrongly interpreted.

According to the pre-millennialists (Brethren, Baptists, etc.,) it was
believed that the righteous would be 'raptured' before the 'time of trouble'
(the seven last plagues), and the rest of the population would remain. When
Christ appeared at the Second Advent, the millennium would commence, and
during that time those left behind would have a second chance to be
converted.

This teaching does not hold up, however, when all the texts mentioning the
events of the Second Coming are considered:

1Thessalonians 4:16, 17: The righteous dead will be raised.
The living righteous will be taken up together with them.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 Jesus will appear at His second advent 'in blazing
fire' and 'those who do not know God . . .will be punished
with everlasting destruction . . . on the day he comes to be glorified.'
Revelation 1:7 'Every eye shall see him.' When Jesus comes.

It is clear from these texts that the rapture of the righteous and the destruction of the wicked take place at the same time, and not one before the other.

"The whole world," He said, "is God's great vineyard. The cities and villages constitute a part of that vineyard. These must be worked. Satan will try to interpose himself and discourage the workers, so as to prevent them from giving the message of light and warning in the more prominent as well as in the more secluded places. Desperate efforts will be made to turn the people from truth to falsehood. Angels of heaven are commissioned to co-operate with the efforts of God's appointed messengers on earth. Ministers must encourage and maintain an unwavering faith and hope, as did Christ, their living Head. They must keep humble and contrite in heart before God." {7T 34.2}

The heavenly Messenger who was with us said: "Never lose sight of the fact that the message you are bearing is a world-wide message. It is to be given to all cities, to all villages; it is to be proclaimed in the highways and the byways. You are not to localize the proclamation of the message." In the parable of the sower, Christ gave an illustration of His own work and that of His servants. The seed fell upon all kinds of soil. Some seed fell upon poor soil, yet the sower did not therefore cease his work. You are to sow the seeds of truth in every place. Wherever you can gain access, hold forth the word of God. Sow beside all waters. You may not at once see the result of your labors, but be not discouraged. Speak the words that Christ gives you. Work in His lines. Go forth everywhere as He did during His ministry on the earth.

The Future Arrival of the Son of Man - Jesus Christ - on Planet Earth!

His second coming will not be a secret. Every eye shall see Him! There will not be a private quiet secret rapture or resurrection!

Jesus' second coming will not be secret and will not be in need of "Breaking News Reports" and "Press Releases" to inform the public or anyone of His return!
